There were over 3,000 spectators present to see Kent 2nd XI win by 117 runs on the stroke of time on the second day, after the declaration of the visitors had set Surrey a victory target of 276 runs. Their ninth wicket fell with less than 5 minutes remaining and then Platt was last out, bowled off his pads by one of Jennings's slows. For the winners, there were 19 fours and 3 threes in Dutnall's 109, and 2 sixes, 1 five, and 12 fours in Troughton's 106. The pair added 146 for the third wicket. Morfee's 51 not out contained 1 six, 2 fives, and 7 fours. For the losers, Spring's 83 included 15 fours, and Abel's 63 contained 2 sixes, 1 five, and 10 fours.
