Lincolnshire won this return match by seven wickets mid-afternoon on the second day. The match between the two sides at Lincoln at the beginning of June ended as a draw. There were several rain interruptions on the first day. For the winners, Ward top-scored with 41 not out. On the first day Ireland arrived after lunch so batted down the order for Suffolk. During the Lincolnshire first innings Penfold suffered a sprain when bowling and retired temporarily before returning to bowl again at a slower pace. A crowd of 400 was estimated to be present on the first day and over 150 on the second. The match receipts of over £12. 13s.0d were a record for a Suffolk match.
