Yorkshire 2nd XI won this return match by 137 runs at 5.00 pm on the second day. The Yorkshire declaration left Northumberland 217 runs to win in their second innings in 3ΒΌ hours. Yorkshire had also won the game between the two teams at Jesmond in June. For the winners, Elms took 10 wickets in the match for 76 runs. Robinson top scored in the match with his 40. In the home team's second innings, Dolphin fielded as substitute for Hill who was absent ill and caught Grimshaw at point. Rain delayed the start on the second day by an hour, and it was reported that, as the day progressed, the wicket became difficult for batsmen because of the effects of a hot sun on a drying pitch.
