Suffolk won this close return match by 1 run at 1.40 pm on the second day. Dunning and Gibson had taken the score in the Norfolk second innings from 64 to 86 for 8 wickets and just 3 further runs were needed for victory but Gibson and Dunning were dismissed by Cobbold and Trudgett, leaving Suffolk victors by 1 run, as close a margin as possible. The game between the two sides at Norwich a week before had also been won by Suffolk. For the losers, Leman carried his bat in the Norfolk first innings for 44 runs. There were 8 fours in Starling's 74. In the Norfolk first innings, Leman and Starling added 101 runs for the seventh wicket in 65 minutes. For Norfolk, Dunell was summoned by cable to play in the match, but had to travel from Hampshire and did not arrive until the second day. There was uncertainty overnight whether Gibson in the Norfolk first innings had scored 2 runs not 1, but the umpires ruled the latter.
