Yorkshire 2nd XI won his return match by 258 runs on the second day. The Yorkshire declaration set Surrey 2nd XI a second innings victory target of 351 runs in 3ΒΌ hours. The game between the two sides at Epsom in May had been won by Surrey. For the winners, Oyston took 10 wickets in the game for 86 runs, including 7 for 52 in the Surrey first innings. There was 1 five and 8 fours in Wilson's 82, 9 fours in Robinson's 56 not out, and 7 fours and 6 fours respectively in Hardisty's two innings 52 and 60. In the Yorkshire second innings Robinson and Dolphin added an undefeated 59 runs for the eighth wicket. For the losers, Stedman's 64 contained 9 fours. Davis hurt his ankle and Hutchinson fielded as substitute in the Yorkshire second innings, and is reported as dropping chances given by both Wilson and Hey. [In the Yorkshire first innings, the sources listed give several versions of the overs and maidens bowled by Smith and Gooder. The version adopted is judged the most plausible.]
