Yorkshire 2nd XI won this match by 5 wickets on the second day. For the winners, Elms took 10 wickets in the match for 141 runs. There were 7 fours in Tattersall's 79 and 6 fours in Gill's 52. In the Yorkshire 2nd XI first innings, Tattersall and Elms added 60 runs for the seventh wicket. For the losers, in the Northumberland first innings Ullathorne and Brown put on 72 runs for the eighth wicket. A debutant, Ullathorne, top scored in both innings, and his 45 contained 5 fours. Another debutant Brown's first scoring stroke was a six into the cemetery. Near the close of the first Northumberland innings, wicket-keeper Dolphin was struck on the nose by a rising ball from Wilson and retired for repairs. He was fit to bat later in the day. Towards the end of the first Yorkshire innings Ullathorne handed over the wicket-keeping duties to Marshall, and Richardson kept wicket during the Yorkshire second innings.
