Surrey 2nd XI won this match by 8 wickets half an hour after lunch on the second day after enforcing the follow-on. For the winners, there were 15 fours in Spring's 77. In the Surrey first innings, Nightingale and Spring added 69 runs for the seventh wicket. For Yorkshire 2nd XI, Oyston took 7 wickets for 112 runs in the Surrey second innings. Frank top scored with 48 which included 8 fours. Bad light caused play to end shortly after 6.00 pm on the first day. Rain delayed the start on the second day for half an hour until 11.30 am. The fixture had originally been arranged for The Oval, but was reallocated to Epsom 'to increase interest in cricket in the County'. After play on the first day the two teams were entertained to dinner at The King's Head Hotel at Epsom presided over by the Epsom Cricket Club President.
