Durham won this return match by 199 runs at ? pm on the second day, after Yorkshire 2nd XI had been set a second innings victory target of 319 in 220 minutes. The match between the two sides at South Shields in June had been won by Yorkshire. For the winners, Turnbull took 11 wickets in the match for 97 runs including 7 for 63 in the Yorkshire second innings. He also scored 64 not out, scored in 50 minutes, and 80, an innings of 60 minutes, with 3 sixes and 6 fours and 2 sixes and 9 fours respectively. There were 2 sixes and 6 fours in Elliot's 62 and 1 six and 3 fours in Moorsom's 50. It was the first time Redcar had hosted a championship match.
