Wiltshire won by an innings shortly after luncheon on second day. For the winners, Overton took 8 wickets for 55 runs in the Dorset second innings. There were 12 fours in Fawcett's 76, 1 five and 11 fours in Smart's 71, 9 fours in Warrilow's 67 and 8 fours in Snell's 61. In the Wiltshire innings, Smart and Fawcett put on 75 runs for the seventh wicket. For Dorset, Lush top-scored with 69 not out. This was the initial match played by Dorset in the season in which the County fully qualified for the Championship for the first time.
