Buckinghamshire won this return match by an innings and 18 runs on the second day. The earlier contest between the two sides at St Albans in July had been drawn. For the winners, Stratton took 10 wickets in the match for 117 runs, including 7 for 54 in the Hertfordshire first innings. Wright's 148 included 12 fours, 9 threes and 9 twos. He also took 5 wickets in the match, which was one of the best all-round performances during the season. There were 8 fours in Maul's 60, and 6 fours in Bird's 50 not out. In the Buckinghamshire innings, Wright and de Paravicini added 81 runs for the fourth wicket, which was the joint second highest partnership for that wicket during the season. For the losers, Coleman's 54 contained 8 fours.
