By winning this return match by two wickets amid scenes of some excitement, Bedfordshire completed the 'double' over Staffordshire, having also won at Bedford in June. The margin of victory was the smallest for a team batting last. Bedfordshire needed 200 runs to win in their second innings in 200 minutes, and the victory was achieved with 45 minutes to spare. This result had appeared unlikely overnight when Staffordshire had led on first innings by 76 runs. For the winners, Pollitt top-scored with 48 and Haycraft took 9 wickets in the match for 57 runs. In the Bedfordshire second innings, Pollitt and Orr put on 101 runs for the second wicket, and the Bedfordshire total of 201 for 8 wickets was the highest fourth innings total of the season. For the home side, Stratton top-scored with 40.
