This return match was drawn after Berkshire followed on 217 runs behind. For Buckinghamshire, there were 13 fours, 3 threes and 11 twos in Gresson's 103, an innings of 3 hours and 20 minutes, 12 fours in Maul's 79, and 5 fours in Saunders's 55.
Gresson and Saunders put on 118 runs for Buckinghamshire's second wicket. Watts's 65 for Berkshire included 10 fours. A rainstorm prevented play on the second day between 3.30 pm and 6.00 pm, and only a further 20 minutes of play took place before stumps were drawn. At the close, Berkshire were still 109 runs in arrears with 3 wickets remaining. When the two sides met at Reading the week before, the match had also been drawn. There are a number of variations in the newspaper reports of the falls of wicket in the Buckinghamshire first innings, and the one preferred is that contained in the Bucks Herald.
