This card comes from the Minor Counties Research Project
Berkshire won by an innings and 38 runs on the second day, after Oxfordshire followed-on 125 runs behind. Bad light stopped play 25 minutes early on the first day. Newspaper reports suggest heavy overnight rain made conditions difficult for batting on the second day. For the winners, there were 7 fours in Hill's 64 and 9 fours in Nepean's 58. By arranging to play 8 Championship matches, Berkshire qualified for inclusion in the Competition Table for the first time.
