Notes
--> JA Gill retired hurt in the Southland first innings (team had lost 0 wickets) - he returned when the score was 62/1
The start of the match was delayed until 11.35am due to the late arrival of some Otago players
Gill had to retire hurt 10 minutes before lunch on the first day after being hit in the face by a full toss from WD Frame which knocked a lens out of his glasses
Heavy rain fell at the end of the Southland first innings which delayed the start of the Otago first innings for an hour and 25 minutes
When Southland declared their second innings closed, Otago were left with just 30 minutes to score 115 to win the game outright but made no attempt to score the runs
