At the start of the Lynn Wanderers first innings R.J.Fairburn was given out lbw by umpire Williams. The Lynn Wanderers captain protested and wanted a new umpire but D.Hird of Mohair declined and Lynn Wanderers refused to play on. The first such occasion for a number of years that this had happened at Chelmsford Street.
