This final of the McDonald's Cup was interrupted by rain in the fifteenth over and on resumption was reduced to forty-five overs a side.
Only a further fifty-two minutes of play was possible before rain again interrupted play and at four o'clock the match was abandoned. A fifteen over contest was contemplated but in the end it was decided to play a new match on the following day.
