Match notes
Play would seem to have ended early on the first afternoon and commenced early on the second day. No times are recorded in the scorer's sheets but there is a mark on twenty overs that would seem to indicate stumps for the day. Times were most likely about 4.30 p.m. and 9.30 a.m. Victoria closed their innings at 11.45 a.m. on the second morning and set out to gain outright victory but the South Australians managed to bat out time.
