Match notes
Rain delayed the commencement of the match by 65 minutes and the game was reduced to 42 overs a side. Country began slowly but some quick runs towards the end brought then a respectable total. India was cruising towards victory when rain came down at 4.48 p.m. and continued throughout the afternoon so that no further play was possible. In the count back to the highest scoring overs, the formula to be used to decide such matches in the forthcoming World Cup, the Country total was revised to 154 from the best scoring thirty overs so that Country was declared winner with an advantage of 25 runs.
