Going in to this final round of matches a favourable outright result would have given either of these teams the Championships for this series. New South Wales Country openers GD Ryan and EJ Higgins set a new first wicket record partnership of 119. Once New South Wales gained the first innings lead the match was concluded at 4.44 p.m. on the second afternoon. The resuklt moved New South Wales up from fourth place to second place on the Championships points table while Queensland moved down from second to fourth.
