Cornelius George Walter Looms holds a unique place in the history of the Devon County Cricket Club.

Looms George to his friends scored a century on his debut for Devon, which is a rare feat in itself. Only eight players have made debut centuries for Devon.
What makes Looms achievement all the more remarkable is he scored his century in the only competitive game he played for Devon and the only time he batted. Looms made 104 in 90 minutes before lunch against Kent 2nd XI at the County Ground, Exeter in 1951.
Hubert Cath, the county secretary, said in his annual report: High hopes are entertained of C G W Looms, whose fine century in 90 minutes when runs were needed in a hurry will be remembered.
Although Looms played a handful of one-day and friendly games for Devon between 1951-1953, he was never selected for a Minor Counties game again. George Looms learned his cricket with East Lancashire in the Lancashire League, first appearing as a 16 year old.
He was a South Devon player when he appeared for Devon. He later joined Torquay CC.
