Scorecard: | Pakistan v India |
- Sourav Ganguly has now extended his record of not winning a toss against Pakistan to eighth matches.
- Younis Khan was playing his 100th match. He became 23rd player from Pakistan and 132nd player in the world to do so.
- Inzamam-ul-Haq (123 off 121 balls) achieved his highest score against India, bettering his 122 at Karachi in first match of this series on 13-03-2004
- The hundred was Inzamams tenth of his career. He became third Pakistani after Saeed Anwar (20) and Ijaz Ahmed (10) and 19th batsman in the world to do so.
- The hundred was Inzamams fourth against India. He now shares the record of scoring most hundreds against India in ODIs alongwith Australias Ricky Ponting, New Zealands Nathan Astle, South Africas Gary Kirsten, Sri Lankas Sanath Jayasuriya and former teammate Saeed Anwar.
- The hundred was Inzamams second as Pakistans captain. He became first Pakistani skipper to score more than one hundred. Four players had scored one hundred for Pakistan as captain Imran Khan, Rameez Raja, Saeed Anwar and Aamir Sohail.
- Inzamam also became third captain to score two hundreds against India after Australias Ricky Ponting and Sri Lankas Sanath Jayasuriya.
- Moin Khan recorded 15th duck of his career. This was also his fifth duck against India in 45th match. He now shares the dubious distinction of aggregating most ducks in a career against India along with Sri Lankas Romesh Kaluwitharana. Moin was earlier at level with Shahid Afridi- the previous record holder for Pakistan.
- The duck was also Moins seventh in day-night matches. With this he equalled the Pakistani record in day-night matches. Yousuf Youhana and Saeed Anwar have also recorded seven ducks to their (dis)credit.
- The 10 byes conceded by Dravid in this match has taken his career tally to 144 byes in 63 matches, in which he has kept wickets for India. Dravid now holds the dubious distinction of conceding most byes in a career for India. He surpassed Nayan Mongias tally of 138 byes from 139 matches. Incidentally West Indian Jeff Dujon holds the world record of conceding most runs in a career. Dujon conceded 378 byes in 167 matches.
- VVS Laxman (20 off 18 balls) recorded his first two-digit score against Pakistan playing in his sixth match.
- The catch of Sourav Ganguly was 200th for Moin Khan. He became third wicketkeeper after Australias Adam Gilchrist (281) and South Africas Mark Boucher (243) to do so.
- The sixth wicket unbroken partnership of 132 runs between Rahul Dravid and Mohammad Kaif is Indias best for this wicket against all countries. The pair obliterated the long-standing 127-run partnership between Mohammad Azharuddin and Ajay Sharma against New Zealand at Baroda on 17-12-1988. Incidentally the previous record sixth wicket stand for India against Pakistan was of 116 runs between Sanjay Manjrekar and Nayan Mongia at Sharjah on 12-04-1996.
- The above partnership is also the highest for sixth wicket in Pakistan obliterating the 91-run partnership between Salim Malik and Wasim Akram against New Zealand at Gujranwala on 04-12-1996. New Zealands Jeremy Coney and Ian Smith had added 65 runs at Multan on 07-12-1984, which was the previous highest sixth wicket stand against Pakistan in Pakistan.
- This partnership is also the second best for sixth wicket in all day-night matches and the highest ever against Pakistan. South Africas Hansie Cronje and Shaun Pollock had added 137 runs against Zimbabwe at Johannesburg on 31-01-1997. The previous record sixth wicket partnership in a day-night match against Pakistan was of 107 runs between Sri Lankas Marvan Atapattu and Upul Chandana at Sharjah on 12-04-2002.
- Rahul Dravid, with his innings of 76*, has taken his run-aggregate to 294 in five matches in Pakistan at an average of 73.50 - the most by an Indian in Pakistan. He surpassed Dilip Vengsarkar's tally of 229 runs (ave.57.25) in 7 matches in Pakistan.
- Indias total (294-5) is their highest ever total batting second to win against Pakistan and their second highest against all countries in a day-night match. India had successfully chased a victory target of 325 against West Indies at Ahmedabad on 15-11-2002. However Indias previous highest score batting second to win a match against Pakistan in a day-night match was a paltry 206 for four at Sharjah on 13-04-1999.
- Ganguly became first Indian captain to win more than one match on Pakistani soil. Bishan Bedi, Sunil Gavsakar and Sachin Tendulkar all have won one match each.
- The defeat was Pakistans first out of the eight matches they have played on this ground under the floodlights.
- The Man-of-the-Match award was 21st for Inzamam-ul-Haq equalling Wasim Akrams tally. Now only Saeed Anwar (27) has won more awards for Pakistan than Inzamam. Interestingly four of these awards have come in lost causes. Apart from the Karachi match on 13-03-2004, Inzamam also received the award against Sri Lanka at Multan on 17-01-1992 and against New Zealand at Christchurch on 17-12-1995 while his side lost the match.
