Lancashire 1868-69
Born 30.6.1846 Kensington, London.
Died 2.4.1941 Bushey, Hertfordshire.
 
The second son of Sir Francis Head of Warwickshire, second Baronet, and Mary Jane, daughter of Robert Garnett, of Wyreside, near Lancaster. 
He was educated at Marlborough College, which he attended from August 1859 until Xmas 1864. He was a member of the cricket eleven in 1864 and of the football twenty 1862 to 1864. 
He lived in Manchester for a couple of years in the 1860s and was first asked to play for the Lancashire team against Surrey at Old Trafford on 11th to 13th June 1868, when he scored 24 in his only innings. Later that year, on the 2nd to 4th July, playing for the Gentlemen of Lancashire against the Gentlemen of Kent, again at Old Trafford, he opened the innings and scored 26 and 10. The following year he played his last match for Lancashire, although in 1881 he played for the M.C.C. against Lancashire at Lord's. 
At the time of the 1881 Census he was a boarder at 75 Warwick Street, Hanover Square, London, the house of William Postlethwaite, a builder employing 14 men. He is aged 36, unmarried and employed as the director of an engineering works. At that time his father was living at 9 Seymour Street, Marylebone, London, Baronet and J.P. for Surrey, with six domestic servants. 
He was a Justice of the Peace for Herefordshire. 
At the time of his death he was living at the Bushey Hall Hotel, Bushey. He left £91,157.
