Player: | A Porter |
Arthur Porter played League cricket in Lancashire before joining the police force and moving to South Wales. He joined Newport C.C., and after some impressive batting and spin bowling performances, he was called up by Glamorgan in 1936 to play against Worcestershire at Neath.

Porter continued to play both for Glamorgan`s 1st and 2nd XI in the late 1930`s whenever his police duties gave him sufficient time off. When Glamorgan regrouped after the Second World War, Porter secured enough leave to help the county out on a regular basis in 1946 and 1947.
1946 saw Porter produce his career-best performances of 105 against Surrey and 4/25 against Gloucestershire. He made one appearance in 1948 and 1949, before gaining a post with British Steel Corporation.
