MILDMAY, Henry Paulet St John.
Amateur.
Born at Westminster, London, 28th April 1853.
Died at Dogmersfield Park, Hampshire , 24th April 1916.
He was the eldest son of Sir H.B.P.StJ. Mildmay, 6th baronet, of Moulsham, Chelmsford and Dogmerfield Park. He attended Eton School 1866-71 but was not a member of the cricket eleven. He served with the 2nd Battalion of the Grenadier Guards in the Egyptian War 1882 (medal with clasp, Khedives Star) and the Sudan Campaign 1885 (mentioned in despatches, bret-maj, and clasp). He retired from the Army in 1894.
His cricket had been in military matches and also in seven first-class matches for Hampshire 1881-84. He inherited the baronetcy as the 7th baronet and was a J.P. for Hampshire.
There is no trace of him in the 1881 Census but present at Dogmersfield Mansion House, Hampshire, are his father Sir Henry Mildmay, aged 70, Baronet land owner, and his mother Lady J. aged 57. His unmarried sister Jane H., aged 29 is also present, as is a visitor Miss Mary O. Bouverie aged 29. There are nineteen domestic servants.
